Autumn Fair 2020
Visit our unique traders online
from 1st September to 30th November
This year we are bringing our annual Link to Hope Autumn Fair to you, all autumn long! We've put together a fantastic collection of handcrafters and not-on-the-High-Street traders to give you a unique shopping experience from the comfort of your own home.
Every one of these crafters and small businesses has donated to Link to Hope, and in return we kindly ask that you support them with your business. It's been a difficult year and we value your support more than ever. On behalf of Link to Hope and our Autumn Fair traders, thank you!
How do I shop?
We've set up tabs at the top of the page to help you find the different kinds of lovely things you are looking for.
Traders offering a variety of goods appear on more than one tab: we've listed traders who specialise in one category only higher up, and the rest in the order they registered with us - they are all fabulous and very different so do please browse them all!
Our traders are handcrafters and small businesses. Many sell at craft fairs and events and not all have online shops.
Our trader listings will let you know how you can browse and buy, whether it's a link to an online shop,
a listing of autumn events you may attend in person, how to order by (e)mail/phone or how to place a commission.
We thank you for shopping 'small' this year.
Each week we will shine a spotlight on two of our traders to tell you their story:

The Octopus Lady
Hand-crocheted octopuses, dragons & other creatures, in aid of reptile rescue. Commissions welcome.
I'm Jane, also known as The Octopus Lady. I've volunteered with Reptile Events Reptile Rescue (www.reptile-events.co.uk) since it started, and began selling crocheted creatures a few years ago to raise funds for the reptiles. Initially I sold at steampunk events but now I'm a regular at several local craft markets. For my first event I made myself an usherette tray and strolled from room to room selling octopuses and cthulhus – and because I wasn't in a fixed place people started to ask where “the octopus lady” was, so I had my name.
My range has expanded to include cthulhus (water demons created by HP Lovecraft), octopuses, dragons, swamp dragons (inspired by Terry Pratchett), turtles, triceratops, stegosauruses and, in these difficult times, plague doctors. Most are available in a wide range of colours or can be made to order in the colour(s) of your choice – the exception is the plague doctor which is black, grey and white, but you can choose the colour of his bag.
I am happy to post nationally and internationally, and can also offer local collection in West Wickham. You can order either by email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or message me from my Facebook page (@TheOctopusLady). Payment can be made via PayPal, bank transfer, or cash on collection.
I also expect to attend two of the Gingham Goose craft fairs and Hayes School Christmas Craft Fair, subject to the events going forward as planned.
Thank you for your support!

Link to Hope
All money raised from the Autumn Fair supports Link to Hope's Shoebox Appeal. It’s a really simple idea: we ask people to fill a Shoebox for a family – not just a child, containing items such as shower gel/shampoo, family games, stationery items, a gift for mum and dad as well as sweets, soft toys, hats, scarves, etc. The Family Shoeboxes of gifts are given to families who often have to make a choice between buying food or fuel at Christmas time – buying presents is just not a priority. Many of these families do not have running water, heating or electricity. Some live in appalling conditions, often living in just one or two rooms, and life for them is a real struggle to survive. Our annual Family Shoebox Appeal has been running since 1992 and has delivered smiles to thousands of people in Eastern Europe over the years. In fact, we have sent over 900,000 shoeboxes to hundreds of different locations! We also send special shoeboxes to the elderly, containing gifts such as reading glasses, sensory items and a wind-up torch.
We are passionate about rebuilding lives and communities in Eastern Europe through education and social care. Link to Hope’s aim is to combat poverty and give humanitarian aid and has special concern for the most disadvantaged. The poorest – especially people struggling to survive in poor villages that lack basic amenities. The most vulnerable – especially children and the most marginalised. The most exploited – the families and individuals who are at the mercy of authorities and circumstances that they have no control over. Link to Hope’s vision is that one day every person in Eastern Europe will have a safe environment to live in and access to basic healthcare, human rights, employment and education.
